I. Definition
A dry-type transformer is a distribution transformer whose iron core and windings are not immersed in insulating oil. It relies on air convection and fan-assisted forced air cooling for heat dissipation, distinct from oil-immersed transformers. Common voltage ratings are 10kV/0.4kV, and it is widely used in indoor, fireproof, and explosion-proof areas.
Core classification (market mainstream)
SCB epoxy cast dry-type transformer (most commonly used)
Copper windings, epoxy resin vacuum cast to wrap the coils, moisture-proof, dust-proof, fire-proof, standard for State Grid and real estate.
SGB open-type non-cast dry-type transformer
Windings with air channels, without full resin wrapping, better heat dissipation, slightly lower cost, mostly used in large power loads in factory buildings.
SG open-type H-class insulated dry-type transformer
High-temperature-resistant insulation materials, high-temperature-resistant, environmentally friendly, used in high-temperature working conditions and metallurgical industries.
II. Structural Composition
Core
Highly magnetic cold-rolled silicon steel sheets are laminated, with 45° full inclined joints, which reduces no-load loss and noise. The surface is coated with insulating anti-rust paint.
High and low voltage windings
SCB type: Low-voltage foil winding, high-voltage segmented cylindrical type, epoxy resin vacuum casting, internal air duct pre-installed;
Increased insulation between layers and turns, flame-retardant epoxy resin, does not explode or produce a large amount of toxic smoke when exposed to fire. Cooling system
AN: Natural air cooling (small capacity, no need for fan);
AF: Forced air cooling (bottom axial flow fan, load capacity increased by about 40%).
Temperature control protection system (standard)
Built-in platinum resistance temperature probe in the winding, with accompanying temperature controller functions:
Temperature display, over-temperature alarm, over-temperature trip;
Automatic start-stop of cooling fan;
Remote signal upload to the distribution room backend.
Enclosure (IP20/IP30)
Optional metal protective enclosure to prevent accidental contact with live parts; IP30 can prevent rain splashes, only for indoor use, not for outdoor.

Connection group designation "Dyn11": The high-voltage side adopts a delta (D) connection, the low-voltage side adopts a star (y) connection with the neutral point led out (n), and the phase angle difference between the line voltages of the high and low sides is 30°, with the low-voltage side voltage leading the phase angle corresponding to the 11 o'clock position on the high-voltage side by 11 points.
"Three-phase core type": It adopts a three-phase structure, with the core and windings not immersed in insulating oil but insulated and cooled by air or resin, suitable for places with high fire safety requirements (such as buildings, hospitals, etc.).
Low-voltage side voltage 0.4kV: The rated line voltage on the low-voltage side is 400V (phase voltage 230V), in line with the standards for low-voltage power distribution in civilian and industrial use, and can directly supply power to 380V/220V electrical equipment.
It can effectively achieve the conversion from high voltage (such as 10kV) to low voltage, and the Dyn11 connection method is conducive to suppressing third harmonics and ensuring the power quality of the low-voltage side.
