The working principle of the three-phase voltage regulator is based on phase control technology. It regulates the output voltage by changing the conduction angle of the alternating current, achieving smooth voltage adjustment. In practical applications, the three-phase voltage regulator not only meets the voltage requirements of various electrical equipment, but also improves energy utilization efficiency by effectively controlling power transmission.
I. Core Classification and Principles
1. Contact Type (Self-Coupled Type, Mainstream TSGC/TSGC2)
Structure: Three single-phase ring-shaped iron core self-coupled voltage regulators are coaxially assembled, connected in Y configuration, and share a main shaft with carbon brushes. Principle: By turning the handwheel / servo motor, it drives the three-phase carbon brushes to slide synchronously along the polished surface of the windings, changing the turns ratio to achieve a continuous adjustable output voltage of **0~420V (380V input)**. Features: No harmonics, high efficiency (≥95%), pure waveform, strong overload capacity; however, there is carbon brush wear, requiring maintenance.
2. Thyristor Type (SCR / Power Regulator)
Structure: Each opposite parallel thyristor module + trigger control board, without mechanical moving parts.
Principle: Through phase angle / zero-crossing triggering, controlling the conduction angle of the thyristors to adjust the effective voltage / power of the load.
Features: No wear, fast response, easy remote control; but it generates harmonics, has a low power factor, suitable for pure resistive loads such as electric heating, industrial furnaces, etc. Core features (Contact Type)

Three-phase symmetrical output: Synchronous adjustment of coaxial carbon brushes, balanced three-phase voltages, no phase offset.

Pure waveform: No harmonic distortion, does not pollute the power grid, suitable for precision instruments, motor testing.
Simple maintenance: Only need to regularly check carbon brush wear, tighten connection terminals, no oil replacement required.

Industrial Manufacturing: Factory testing of motors / transformers, electroplating / electrolysis power supply, temperature control of heat treatment furnaces, welding equipment voltage regulation.
Research and Laboratory: Power simulation for universities / research institutes, aging test of electronic equipment, three-phase load characteristic tests.
Equipment Matching: Front-stage voltage regulation for variable frequency power supplies, UPS testing, voltage adaptation for imported equipment (400V/480V).
New Energy: Low-voltage crossing test for photovoltaic inverters, test of energy storage converters (PCS).
III. Differences from Dry-Type Transformers
Three-phase voltage regulators: Continuous adjustable voltage (0~420V), self-coupled structure, Y connection, no fixed ratio, suitable for voltage regulation / testing scenarios.
Dry-type transformers: Fixed ratio (e.g. 10kV/0.4kV), isolated windings, Dyn11 connection, voltage cannot be adjusted, suitable for power distribution / voltage transformation scenarios.
IV. Selection Tips
Capacity matching: Select based on the rated current of the load × 1.2~1.5 times to avoid overload (e.g. 10kVA load selects 15kVA voltage regulator).
Voltage range: Conventional 380V input / 0~420V output; for voltage increase (e.g. 480V), customize.
Load type: Inductive load (motors) select contact type (no harmonics); pure resistive load (heating) can select thyristor type (lower cost).
Environmental conditions: Indoor select IP20, for humid / dusty environments select IP23+H class insulation.
